IN MY AMERICA

In my America Businesses and Corporations are smarter than government. Government comes to Corporations to ask for help. Corporations  know it is good public relations with the people and government to propose programs to help the people and to promote good public relations. The Corporations also know that it is wiser to create a program then to have the government dictate regulations and taxes.

In my America the government would not tax or direct regulations who's cost could be passed on to the consumer.  The government would negotiate and create incentives for the corporations to help out in certain areas. Take for instance free phones for the poor or WI-FI for some school areas. They would sit down and discuss this with the corporations and congress and come up with a plan that would fulfill the needs of the people without putting a direct burden on others.

Now this how I was taught our system should work and system of checks and balances where compromise is KING not the a King who does not compromise or even thinks straight.

KISS AND COMMON SENSE

KISS (keep it simple stupid)
and
COMMON SENSE.  Two things there are not enough of in this day and age.
Academia with all their liberal bias will never be able to solve any problems, and will only create more problems. It is the liberals that have gotten us into this welfare state and they can only make it worse, because any solution will lack a KISS formula and they have already discredited common sense as common and therefore only for children and fools.

I have tried to explain my method for improving people to become upward mobile and to promote their self worth. Now I will try again.

There is no way the Gov can penalize those who are receiving benefits, of any kind, by taking away the benefits or a portion of them if they desire to make more money by working any job that is legal and on the tax rolls. The benefits will be paid to this person the rest of their days anyway so why not incentivize them by letting them keep the benefits as sort of a base income and the extra money earned will be taxed at the regular rate. Their bas income, welfare food stamps or what ever, will not be subject to taxes.

This plan will take at least one generation to prove it's self and with the added revenue received by the Gov it will offset the payout a little. Remember the people receiving the help would be paid the rest of their lives anyway.

When and how the benefits would be reduced would have to be figured out after at least a 20 to 30 trail of the process.

When I retired early I was told that I could only make so much money per month or I would have a deduction made to my monthly payment. At the time and even now I thought this was the stupidest thing I had ever heard of. They were telling me if I made more money I would lose my SS that I had paid into all my life and it was mine.

I can understand the mind set of people who need help and qualify for assistance. It becomes their life's security just like my SS does for me. Social Security, stop and think about this....Security. No matter what you think about people receiving this assistance you must realize; firs of all they qualified and secondly they are dependent upon this money. You can not threaten to diminish or take this away as long as their base problem is still there. By base problem I mean health, disability, poverty level dependents etc.
And most certainly can not discourage them from seeking regular employment which would help produce money for them and revenue for the Gov.

Maybe the single mother household where the father stays away in order to maintain the social income help will now come home where nether persons assistance income will be counted against them. They can then become upward mobile.

One more point to think about, a portion of those people on the Gov rolls cannot live on this amount anyway so they work for cash "under the table" and by doing this the Gov loses two sources of revenue.

I'm certainly not a writer, but maybe someone with some talent in that can take ahold of this idea and promote it in such a way that it catches some attention. I really do think it has maerit.

RESPONSE 

  Taiwan is my second country. I love the people, I love the mountains, beaches and rivers. It's truly a wonderful place.

Also in case you are wondering I can tell you that. 

I was talking to my wife the other day and told

her that maybe I could learn more Chinese and 

then move to Taiwan. Once there maybe I could get 

a part time job teaching English...not grammar but 

spoken words and idioms  The last time I was in 

Taiwan I did just such a thing for my good friend 

Dr. Wen at his hospital. I would teach just to have something to do and meet people and learn the Chinese language at the same time. 

Well to my surprise my wife said if that is my hearts desire that she would go with me and live there. Wow I didn't expect that at all. Now I guess after just thinking about it occasionally I am not at least leaning in favor of moving at about over 50%. I have family there to stay with until we can get settled in our own place. I could stay with my brother in law and his wife Y.M. Dong possibly. Maybe even with Dr. Wen or my sister in law. Boy it is tempting to think about. I wonder what would push in over to actually begin planning? 

You know this began as a political statement but somehow I just can't tie into that even though I started off with that intent. I'll only say this and that is America with all it's problems was still the best country in the world, but now I don't know if it will be for much longer. The present day news media and Hollywood star types that have lost touch with reality along with the majority of the population has no idea of how dangerous today's agenda is. They can't see the dangers to our freedoms from within. The executive orders, the czars, the deadlock of congress and the sense of entitlement.  Today we will hear how the GOV will ban assault weapons etc. etc. which is fine except for the fact that months ago this same Gov sold such guns to outlaws and drug dealers. Isn't it ironic and wouldn't even be possible that one of those guns that killed a U. S. Border agent also could have worked it's way to CT and woman bought one of the fast and furious weapons to protect family? You know where I'm going right? Doesn't this make the gov compliant in some way to the murder of 20 kids?   It's a mad world and no one seems to have any common sense left. 

Stay tuned....after this maybe I'll have to move to Taiwan...you thin the gov will pay for my airfare?

Why is mental illness taking so long to come out of the dark ages?

As a society I have seen us come a long way in bringing to light a lot of illness and finding treatment for them. We now opening discuss and try to care for illness and behaviours that was once taboo. Alcoholics, abuse and abusers, anxieties but for the most part we have still left the stigma and shame of some mental illness in the dark.

It gives the insurance companies an excuse not to cover these illnesses, and there is still too much denial of Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders. Maybe because they may be classified as incurable, but for what ever reason we need to change this. Please pray that society in general will begin to bring out into the light and face up to these problems. We have come to far with exposing other taboo subjects to light now it's time to get serious with mental illness.

We must demand that government and insurance companies get serious about getting and encouraging treatment and covering associated costs. We brought Aids out into the light and have progressed with treatment and awareness now it's time to begin openly discussing and formulating efforts to help mental illness. 

Maybe like other things we may have to begin by changing the name from mental illness to a term that is acceptable to society in general. You can't separate the brain from other physical organs so it should be recognized as just another organ for us to learn more about and treat. 

PROVING A POINT

Would increasing the income tax rate by 1 or 2 % on the top income earners  actually hurt the economy and lose jobs?  I really can't see how it could be a positive act, but we just don't know. Is the Republican Party really only digging in for the elite rich people?  I don't think so but we have no evidence to prove otherwise. Is the real issue spending?  Yes we have to tackle SS and Medicare / Medicaid. 

To me the time to act is now and sooner than later. The Republicans have to concede the 1 or 2 % tax increase now so they can put the pressure on the Democrats to then accept something like the Ryan plan for entitlement's. When and if this increase in revenue shows not to help but to actually reduce jobs and hurt the economy as predicted by the Republicans, then the elections in 2014 will turn the Senate and the House to the Republicans and we can then fix the taxes and benefit programs as intended. We may just have to prove to Americans that Obama's plans just don't work.
